countertop installed

Last weekend we finished grinding and polishing the countertop and got it upstairs (from the backyard) and dropped into place. (Keith & Mark helped us; it was surprisingly heavy for 1-1/2"). I did crack it, at the weak spots arouund the sink opening, during the first move to the backyard for the wet grinding - the mix was obviously weak. And the pitting & splotches were a little disappointing to us. But ultimately its fairly successful in that it fits well, aligns with the undermount sink, and should darken with age & use. Its a relief to have it done.

After setting it, we finished it with 2 coats of a penetrating sealer and then buffed on a finish of beeswax, which gives it a dull sheen. The wax will have to be reapplied every so often.
